House Groups
'What are house groups for?'
They are designed to help people grow as Christians, both in trusting God and loving others. The trust is encouraged by our Bible reading together, when we discuss the bits that are hard or helpful; and the love is encouraged by looking out for each other as we go on as a group. All this adds up to discipleship - learning to love God and love our neighbour more.
'Who can be in one?'
Anyone can join. Just contact the vicar or curate and we will introduce you to the host of one of the house groups.
'Where and when do they meet?'
They meet each fortnight roughly through the school year, with the odd break at holiday times. They are hosted by a couple who are the coordinators of the group's life, and they welcome everyone to their home.
'How long do they last?'
Hard to answer that one! Some were set up 5 years ago; the newest one formed after a central parish course about Christian life, and began in 2005. They may evolve, with members joining, and others moving on. The best evolution is when they grow so much that one group just has to split into two to accommodate all the people.
